My new year key verse reflection 2022-2023

My new year bible verse is Proverbs 16:20 Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord. Last year was a busy year. I worked hard in planning the history lessons for the students and I met many people during my time in graduate school. I knew that I wanted to get a Master’s degree and God heard my prayer requests during my season as a Master’s degree student. For example, I remembered praying to God that I pass the state exam for teaching History and God answered my prayers when I checked my exam scores and I passed. I also remembered earnestly praying to God for straight A’s all semesters and I thank God for helping me to get straight A’s all semesters at my graduate school. Last year I made a goal to read the Bible in a year, but I did not achieve that goal. I got busy and distracted and before you know it, I fell behind in my bible reading. This year, I hope to finish reading the whole Bible in one year. Right now I am only three days behind in my Bible reading, but I want to catch up. I think all of us learned a lot during our time in the pandemic. I can’t believe that 2020 was over. Time flies and I know everyone here can remember what the pandemic was like. Last year I prayed to God many times and I wrote my prayer requests in my prayer journal about my family, myself, and other people. I remember reading that in Taiwanese culture (my mom is from Taiwan), Taiwanese people do not like to air “dirty laundry” meaning Taiwanese people do not like to talk about their problems their sins their issues. Taiwanese people prefer to avoid talking about their flaws or sins. But God knows everything. God knows all our thoughts, our actions, our feelings. That is why I am thankful that God is not a distant God. God is actually near and He hears us. I pray that God will help me to trust in Him fully with all my heart and I pray that God will help me to not listen to other people, but rather me focus on what God is saying to me. I was busy last year, but I also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Last year I went to Tennessee and Virginia. I attended a church service in Knoxville, Tennessee and I really like how many people came together as a community for God’s kingdom. People brought their families and they all showed their dedication to God. I follow a lot of churches on Instagram and I was amazed how God has brought so many people together. I am sure that God is pleased to see all His children together for His glory. I pray that God will shine His light on me everyday this year and in the many years to come. This year, my key verse ends with the phrase “…blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord.” I pray that God will help me to trust in Him this year and I am thankful for all that God has done for me over the years.
